Photo dump of Steve and Mike’s game.
Mike had terrible rolling which annihilated his offensive tank platoon early. He did what he could with what he had left but there was too much German armor to fight through.
Steve gave away some platoons by over extending but we discovered that Schutzen skirts are awesome
Today’s mission was Pincer!
Steve allowed me to borrow his heavy tanks and I could not resist
This was against 7 AD, ARP and Tank horde galore.
I saw the weakness in Auto-defending heavy tanks immediately but felt confident enough that my infantry platoons could hold the line until the very slow reserves came in.
Otto was in the dead center ready to pour his weight of fire anyway.
I had 8.8s in ambush ready to respond his concentrated armor push, naturally I was more afraid of the ARPs overwhelming my infantry.
He dropped smoke on my jagdtiger, but was still close enough to see them doing limited damage. In the storm trooper move i make the silly mistake of moving it allowing two 76mms pushing up its side and destroying it.
The response of my panzerfaust and panzershreks is quick and decisive though.
The armor duel continued but between the nigh invincible 88s and otto the armored push was stopped.
During this time Mike pushes his ARPs and m10s against my dug in infantry, he fails to pin me in a few crucial moments leading his first ARP platoon to be pushed back depleted.
The bergepanther is crucial at this time as a ten point mobile machine gun platform.
The m10s pop killing Otto with a side shot at this time, i feel i may have forgotten his warrior save (i did).
My scouts in halftracks arrive in time to see off an assault from the second ARP platoon along with my King Tiger.
The last jagdtiger come in but at this point it is only a clean up operation. My rockets never came in before the Americans broke.
So rapier-con came and went, the tables were beautiful and the games fantastic but my phone broke before i came around to uploading the photos.
I was able to get second place though using my panzer lehr list!
After that I toned down the Flames of War as life caught up and there was no tournaments in the foreseeable future.
Rob dropped by for the holidays and we decided to get a game of Barbarossa in as he is entering an 1485 Early War Tournament in Texas!
Deployment had my infantry deployed with the 88s in a terrible position where they had limited visibility to everything, I honestly saw me losing this game at deployment. My anti-tank weapons guns were in scattered reserve along with my infantry guns. All of which would only dent the armor of a t34.
Rob had an HQ of a t34, a platoon of 2 t34s, bt7a, armored cars, t23s?, katyushkas and an 18 stand pioneer platoon
He deployed the armored cars, t23s, and t34s.
Having committed his forces so thoroughly to my right flank I decided to load up more than half of the second platoon into their trucks and gun them towards Rob’s objective (which i forgot to take pictures of)
His BT7s and pioneers arrive first and start hunting the infantry platoon now moving through the buildings towards his objectives
Thankfully I was making saves and my stuka, though causing zero casualties after having 14 stands under the template pinned the infantry horde for the rest of the game.
All this while his tanks and my anti tanks dueled.
The final moments were when his t34s assault my infantry and my now in position anti tank 6 guns where he proceeded to roll two 1s on his side armor 5 and i managed to pass the firepower tests to bail them.
My infantry on the far side unloaded on his now arrived katyushkas causing them to run. Without his 1ic his company breaks leaving me with a 4-3 victory that should have never been
Sorry its been a while, have plenty of great pictures of games I’ve had but no time to post them!
Had a six hour drive to Jacksonville and doing last minute painting
Already saw the tables for this tournament and they are gorgeous
Its DDay themed so Panzer Lehr are at it again
Mike is going for 7 AD from BGG
Again we are by far the youngest players here haha,
Ill be sure to post up a tournament report
A tank on tank game with a desperate measures list
I was oh so stoked to use a minefield but the mission we rolled had no prepared positions, womp
I feel confident in my deployment, as stugs are solid on defensive and the panthers would draw the heaviest hitters. My infantry remained dug in.
Everything starts off well as I am able to destroy a few tanks and avoid the tank hunters while being able to destroy them
My panzer IVs arrived in a sweeping motion that should have statistically almost assured me of at least causing a motivation test and I whiff and he bounces the few hits,
I left them out too spread out and the next turn they just get wiped. After that begins the gradual collapse of my forces as the panthers and stugs are forced to run until finally the noose is closed around me and I fail a company command
5-2 win to mike and the Allies!
I was gathering as many armored assets as I could for a string of counter offensives towards monte cassino and the river valley when we received word that the mountain had fallen and our forces encircled. The offensive was to continue regardless when our train was stopped and redirected, the field marshal preferring to put my unit back in reserve. This turned out to be for good measure as today the Allies have invaded Anzio. Though their breakout efforts seem half hearted, they have been no less ferocious.
At a small estate in Padiglione woods, the owners having long abandoned the place, I was ordered to hold the line.
I was able dig in my infantry along the homestead, leaving pak40s and my panzer iii and ivs in ambush as reinforcements were being rushed to our aid.
Opposing me was a large infantry force, with an armored rifles platoon and tank hunters. They advanced in a large horde making the most use of the terrain to cover them. But the tank hunters were left exposed and the horde too tight.
My nebs were able to deal heavy damage to one platoon and pin both.
My ambushes were popped and began to rip through the units that could do the most damage, the tank hunters held tenaciously as the armored rifles ran.
After the destruction of these two units it was an easy matter as my reinforcements began streaming in pushing back the horde as my opponent whiffed pretty bad.
At the end of the battle I had lost no platoons but had not been able to use the flamm half track ( personal loss)
6-1 for Axis
Desperate measures battle with no artillery,
The game boiled down to a shooting match between panthers and IS2s where I made sure to keep them moving to fire until a turn that killed two but the panther held. Both our officers in command were killed as my panzer IVs pushed towards the objective, with his units unable to do enough damage it boiled down to an infantry charge that I was able to stave off by one hit!
I continue the battle for Sant’ Ambrogio!
Following the success in holding the river, command of the 90 Sardinein was left to another commander and I was transferred to another unit which was preparing to mount localized counterattacks in the area.
After initial successes a portion of the 3rd rifles was surrounded!
Rob’s deployment was split between the two objectives, one unit of rifles held an objective with the american equivalent of 6 pounders, he had a unit of tanks hidden behind a building, his 105s and pioneers held the other objective, held in immediate ambush was his tank destroyers.
I had my nebs and a platoon with shrek and 1ic on my left flank, with my armor concentrated on my right flank. Stugs and pak40s were to face his shermans and 75mm cannons(?). My main push involved infantry guns, panzer iiis and ivs and an infantry platoon.
His immediate ambush deployed in a forest facing my panzers but thankfully I could move to avoid them.
I proceeded to run the stugs into the crops and open fire at the shermans, but doing nothing. My left infantry moved up heading towards the woods that held the tank destroyers remaining out in the open.
Rob moved up his shermans firing a pot shot at an 8rad and bailing it, he was able to kill a pak40 that moved with mortars. He took the chance to move his tank hunters to shred my infantry out in the open with machine gun fire but noticed they only had passenger fired AA! He then assaulted me but after many rounds of combat came out defeated. The infantry unit with 1ic then proceeded to dig in and do nothing for the rest of the game.
After that, my stugs proceeded to win the gun fight with the shermans as my panzer iiis amd ivs destroyed his artillery. The stugs were doing a great job destroying 75mm guns until rob pointed out I should just force the pioneers to the south to take motovation tests. I then concentrated my fire and did just that.
Victory Germany 6-1
This was one of a few games played tonight at my FLGS where the Axis came out with a 3-4, 4-3, and my own 6-1, with one last game going on before I left. It was a good turn out with everyone having fun.
